Oh Lord, as I take the wheel of this man-made machine, may I be fully aware of the tremendous responsibility intrusted to me.
Let me not for one moment forget that there are men racing today, and help me to realize that in some small way I am responsible for their lives as well as my own.
Do not permit me to yield to that desire to win at the expense of my fellow driver, but to bring into play the skills and years of experience that will set me apart from those who foolishly believe that limited knowledge and guts is all that’s needed to become a victor.
Oh God, let not the desire for more speed warp my judgment for fear that my greed may cost a fellow driver his life.
Help me to drive according to the rules, and if it is "Thy Will" that I enter the victory circle, let me be content in the knowledge that I drove a good race to the best of my ability. Instill in me the satisfaction of knowing that "Thou Are" with me each time I race and if it is according to "Thy Will" I will race again depending on "Divine Guidance" with each turn of the wheel.
When that day comes when I can race no more, I will accept my fate and offer a prayer of thanks for being remembered as a gentleman race driver who practices the "Golden Rule" of auto racing.
